What a long season...
For most winterguards, the season starts in October and doesn't end until March. Six months! This doesn't include extra summer practices. Trying to keep the students interested and happy can be hard this time of year. Here are a couple ideas I have tried:
1) A happy director = a happy guard (and vice versa) Have the students sit in a circle with you. Tell the students to express any concerns they may have. It may be surprising what you hear!
2) Have a fun day. Invite the students to a group activity (bowling, skating, mini golf, etc.)
3) Praise! Tell the students they are doing a good job. They appreciate the compliments.

Undergarments for Winterguard
A nude colored leotard is always best for a winterguard performer. I prefer the capezio tank style.

Footwear for winterguard
Capezio has always been my favorite brand of dance shoe. For the past couple of years I have used this style for the winterguard I teach.

Air Blade
What is your opinion on the newest craze? Do you think it should be considered equipment or a prop? Currently WGI only supports a flag, rifle or sabre as a piece of equipment.
